Protein Super food class!

is an important part of a balanced diet. When training alot we should increase protein as protein will assist with recovery! Often when we hear the word protein, meat or protein powders come to mind! Meat is not the only source of protein and amino acids. In this class we discover so many exciting different Protein options! Many people are leaning towards a more vegan approach these days as people are getting sick due to the quality of the non organic meat options we have introduced in modern society.

*Healthy and complete protein is important in the diet. Amino acids are the building blocks of protein. 9 of the 20 amino acids the body can not produce. These amino acids can be found in plant based food such as kale, tomatoes and cucumber.

*Store bought milk is heated and that kills the enzymes as well as damages vitamins and amino acids. Often commercially farmed milk has ben produced from cows that have been injected with a growth hormone.(another good reason to drink almond milk or increase green smoothies for calcium) Whey protein powders are made from non organic cows milk too.

On the weekend I taught a new Natural Naughties class, The Vegan Superfood Protein Class. It was a great day and only ten tickets were sold as i wanted smaller numbers for this new event! It was a great day and the students learned alot about Vegan Plant Protein Options in the diet, different Super Foods, natural beauty and how to make on the go snacks!

It was great to meet so many people who really care about health! Lesley and Tina who own Juice Revolution were guest at the event, was so great to meet them both after hearing such fantastic feedback on their juice cleanses. Always good to see a familiar face, Nic has attended all my classes. So lovely of Belinda to bring in her ladyship so i could demonstrate using a different brand blender. One of my students was told they were low in protein, interesting seen i had no idea they could test for that, i am keen to see how the results differ after including the plant based options from my class in his diet. Everyone was lovely, including some mums looking for healthy options for children!

One of the superfoods we spoke about was Coconut Oil, coconut oil is high in healthy fats, taste great, natural nutrition for hair and skin, assist in weight loss, good for the heart, great for digestion and immunity, helps with infections.

*A student in this class even mentioned a friend of hers had a rash and bad pigments on skin after using coconut oil it went away, it really is a miracle food! I have heard in same cases it cures thyroid problems!

The reason I planned this class was because in all my other raw vegan classes many people ask the question where can i get protein from?. I wanted to provide some information on protein in the raw food diet.I am not saying that every body should give up meat, however i like to provide those who follow a vegan diet for ethical reasons healthy options, also to talk about the quality of meat in modern society. In class we spoke about plant based protein souces, soy products and the harm they may cause, different plant based protein powders, the protein myth, amino acids and their importance, amino acids are present in many raw foods such as kale! I also wanted to provide better options for "On the go protein" snacks. Most products that are designed for on the go snacks contain chemicals, artificials and whey that has come from a poor source.

*A very large amount of soy products today are genetically modified. It has one of the highest percentages of contamination by pesticides of any of our foods. Soy also contains goitrogens. These substances are know to depress thyroid function. Soy protein *isolate used to be considered a waste product. This was before the discovered they could make money from it.

In this class we made a low Carb Coconut Protein Ball, a Fruit and Nut Protein Bar, a Raw Vegan Nutrient Dense Protein Salad with a Tahini Dressing, an Avocado Protein Shake, a Berry Coconut Shake, Nutrient Dense Green Smoothie. A Superfood Protein Mix for the gym! We also shared a Cashew Cheese dip and Flax Crackers with raw veggies, yum!

*Natural Naughties vegan salad was loaded with aminos and provided some great protein options too.  Lots of raw greens and raw veggies. Some great vegan protein from nuts, sprouted beans and the tahini dressing.
*1 cup of spinach contains 5 grams of protein and 1 cup of lentils contains 18 grams of protein.

For the protein recipes in this class we used Sun Warrior Protein. Made of 80 percent protein! This protein is rich in vitamins and minerals and so easy to digest! One serve of raw vegan protein powder contains 16 grams protein. This protein taste really good too!

This is just a sneak peak into the wonderful day we had. To learn more then come to my next Raw Protein Class in April!

It will be a great day, food demos, taste, recipe handouts, shared snacks, education handouts and a prize raffle too!
