Carbs are not the enemy.

No carb diets! No veggies or fruit!  These diets may work short term, however these diets often leave the dieter feeling flat, tired, moody, depressed, underweight, overweight or just un happy. For that reason many people are un able to maintain a diet. These diets do not work long term for health, including mental health.

Nature created a range of foods for us to enjoy. Each food group has benefits. Including some carbs into your diet is not going to make you "fat". It is about working out what carbs are healthy and how many to consume. Pizza, pasta or even some "health" products are not suggested by Natural Naughties either ;)

Many store bought breakfast options are loaded with sugar, additives and are stripped of most nutrients. Counting calories or worrying too much is not necessary for optimal health. A low calorie food that provides no nutrition seems like a waste of calories anyway. Fuel your body with quality carbs and calories to that you function.

Natural Naughties healthy carb suggestions include fruit, veggies, sweet potato, spelt, buckwheat, oats, brown rice (to name a few).

*If you have a gluten intolerance some grains are not suggested. The ratio you should eat will depend on your own body and goals.

This is a healthy snack or breakfast  that is easy to make and contains a balance of macros. It has healthy fats, carbs and quality protein.

Benefits of sweet potatoes:
  • They contain vitamins like B6, C, and D, which all help to strengthen our bones, heart, nerves, skin, and teeth.
  • They are high in iron, which aids in the production of blood cells and improves the immune system.
  • They have the mineral magnesium, which is important in fighting stress and providing you with energy.
Sweet potato cake

1/2 cup oats
8 egg whites
1/2 cup cooked sweet potato
1 tablespoon raw cacao
30 almonds

  1. Process with a high-speed blender.
  2. Pour into a lined tin.
  3. Bake until cooked.

*    You can replace the oats for almond meal (it will change the macro breakdown)
