Mini Detox

Today is one week stimulant free! The only stimulant I include in my diet is a coffee a day and this has only been in the last year or so. I allow myself a coffee a day as I love the smell and the taste! It is a small luxuary for me and with an italian background a social act too! We only live once, enjoy life! Since my mini detox I am thinking to remove it all together again! I have noticed better skin, better moods and other benefits!.I stopped drinking coffee back in 2007 for 3 years. My energy was always great, i was fit, healthy and happy! Why did i start to drink coffee???? I started to prep for a body building comp in early 2010. My diet was restricted in healthy carbs and fats and i was training very hard as well as working part-time and a student studying 9-5. A few weeks into my diet and training I needed extra energy to train! No way would I touch a pre-workout loaded with flavours and god knows what else! I used caffeine as a drug and I payed for it! I was moody, grumpy and did not sleep well! I was abit disappointed in myself but i was determained to achieve my body building goals! I placed 2nd because of my determination and hard work!

Break the habbit

After competition was over I knew i needed to break my coffee habbit! I will not lie it was tough! I was addicted too the stuff! I had to be strong and fight the addiction. I reduced my training regime, included more healthy calories and had a healthy approach to food. Soon i was feeling better and had more energy! I love the fact i no longer rely on a drug!


  • Drink plenty of water!
  • Limit coffee after 3pm!
  • Cut your intake in half!
  • Eat a balanced diet with foods that give you energy!
  • Drink coconut water for energy!
  • Drink green tea or herbal teas!

1 cup coconut water
1/2 banana
1/2 cup blueberries
1 teaspoon maca
1 teaspoon goji berries
(extra ice, water or honey optional)


Blend all ingredients in a high speed blender and enjoy!
