Green Bites



I found out about green super foods a few years back when I discovered the Raw Foods. I was drawn to explore Spirulina as a reduction in animal protein meant I was concerned about not getting in enough protein for my active lifestyle. I was "paranoid" I would lose the muscle I had worked very hard to gain in order to achieve my ideal body composition. Spirulina is a plant based super food with a high protein content.

To be honest I used to HATE the taste of it. Spirulina quickly grew on me. I adjusted to the taste and now I love it. I often have random cravings for it. Not the worst addiction to have ;).

I love being creative in the kitchen. So many people are drawn to Natural Naughties creations as they are so different!


Tonight I decided to play with a green super food called Spirulina.

These bites are a great little snack with a green super food boost. Who would have thought you could combine chocolate with a green super food?

Super Food Bites

Ingredients:
4 tablespoons coconut oil
12 medjool dates
8 tablespoons raw cacao
8 tablespoons spirulina
 2 tablespoons coconut palm sugar
1/2 cup almonds
         1 small banana
Directions:
  1. Process together in a high speed blender.
  2. Pour/flatten into a lined tin.
  3. Set in the fridge/freezer.
  4. Slice.
Suggestions:
  • The mixture should be thick and liquid-like. If too thick, add in more coconut oil.
  • Sweetness will better disguise spirulina taste. Dates or coconut palm sugar are used and extra can be added.
    (if making for first time I would half the "dose".
