Natalie Jill is a single mother that has been gluten-free for over a decade, and helps people across the world reach their health, fitness, life, and business goals. Natalie is also a well-known Licensed Sports Nutritionist and Certified Personal Trainer who specializes in weight loss consulting and counselling those with food allergies and intolerances, given her background as a celiac.

I was lucky enough to interview Natalie, and spoke to her about many things, such as her reasons for wanting to get involved with health and fitness, her goals and inspirations, and her tips for those looking for a new start in 2013.

How did you get started with health and fitness and why?

I have always been interested in health and fitness - even as a kid! But, it wasn't until I gained a lot of weight with my daughter and went through a divorce that I decided to get in the best shape of my life and move my profession full time to health, fitness and nutrition. When did you start to see changes in your body?

Once I decided to do the work and commit it was about 4 weeks until there was a change. 4 months later I was a completely new person. I have learned that progression is key, so as we age, as our situations change, as we get comfortable with what we are doing we must consistently progress if we want to continue to improve and see change. My 12 week super shred program here: is based 100% on progression.

What other changes did you notice?

How important is nutrition and raw foods in regards to health and well being?
It is everything. Without the right nutrition energy suffers, weight suffers, as well as performance and health. I am a huge advocate for the right nutrition and believe in an organic, unprocessed food diet for everyone.

Do you think women would benefit from weight training?

Absolutely! The more muscle we have, the faster our metabolism works and the more calories we burn at rest. It is also amazing to be able to change the shape of your body through weight training. Lifting heavy is also a great way to do "intense" training which in itself burns fat.

What has been your biggest accomplishment to date?

Having my daughter. Hands down, my biggest accomplishment to date.

What motivates you to do what you do?

Accountability and boredom. I believe we always create our own luck. If I want something, I am accountable and go after it and make it happen. I also always say that it takes me a year to learn something, another year to master is and a third year to get bored with it. I am always looking to challenge myself towards a next goal!

Could you please provide a tip for those who want to get in shape over the new year?

Just start. Start somewhere and think addition not subtraction. Add more of the right foods, add more water, add more movement, add more activity. Little steps over time make a big difference so just starting anywhere will help. My 4 week jump start is designed to help people beginning from scratch.
