Fresh fish makes me happy :)

My family went fishing and they bought me back some fresh white fish. Good quality produce is the secret to a great dish. I love simple, good quality food.

 
Benefits of fish:
  • Fish is rich in calcium and phosphorus and a great source of minerals, such as iron, zinc, iodine, magnesium, and potassium.
  • Fish is full of protein, vitamins, and nutrients which are good for the heart.
  • Fish has omega-3 fatty acids that prevent inflammation and promote healthy brain functions. 
The problem with fish is that I hate eating it cold. I do not often reheat my food, especially if I am out, as I have never really used a microwave and I'm not interested to start now. I do not even own one at home!
 
I thought I was the only one who hated eating cold meat and cold fish. Turns out many people feel the same way. I have suggested some of my tips to enjoy meals out, even when they are cold, to many of my friends and they love the food.
 
I like to enjoy each of my meals. I am not interested in eating food that taste like crap for "results". Results can be achieved with good food that taste good too. It matters that you appreciate it. Food should be enjoyed!
 
I created these fish patties that taste great hot as well as cold. An advantage of these fish cakes is that I can use up any yolks left over from my organic eggs. I am not anti-yolk. I actually think the yolk is really healthy, since it is loaded with nutrients. The only reason I remove it in some recipes is when I want variety and replace those fats with other good fats.
 

Fish cakes
Ingredients: 
4 white fish
3 egg yellows
1/2 cup chopped basil
1 teaspoon crushed garlic
sea salt, chilli, pepper 
one teaspoon turmeric

Directions:
  1. Process all ingredients together int a high speed blender.
  2. Form into 3-4 patties.
  3. Line on a lined tin.
  4. Bake in medium heat until the fish is cooked. This takes approx. 12 minutes. Ensure you check every few minutes. (I flipped them over half way)

Tips:
  • Serving suggestion: serve with sweet potato, garden salad and lemon juice and a dollop of natural plain yogurt.
