Love all these spices!

 

I never used to like curries or other dishes, as I thought they made me feel sick. Little did I know that what was makingme feel ill was all the processed ingredients in many store-bought dishes. Most places cook food in canola oil or other non-Natural Naughties approved oils. They use table salt and other low quality ingredients.
 
I did some 'Natural Naughties" secret shopping this week and had a look at some store-bought "spice mixes" and other packet products on the market. I found several that are loaded with chemical additives and artificial ingredients. There are also some simple ingredients that you think are safe, but can actually contribute to weight gain.
 
Some of the ingredients include: 
  • Preservatives
  • Salt
  • Numbers, code for something
  • Wheat 
  • Soy protein
  • Lactose
  • Natural Flavours
  • Sugar - The nutrition label might not show it, but sugar in foods can also hide in  flour, corn syrup, dextrose,Carob powder, Dextrose, Fructose, Fruit juice concentrate, Maltose. It has also become a cause for weight gain, especially when you have too much of it. Even sugar alternatives have disadvantages, as they may cause further sugar cravings.
  • MSG or Monosodium Glutamate - stimulates your brain into thinking you're eating "tasty" food. However, it has been known to lead to obesity and other disorders, such as height issues. I prefer to use Saucy Spice Mix as the ingredients are just so clean and contains pure spices.

Ingredients
400 grams chopped chicken, for a vegan alternative use 400 grams cooked chickpeas or tofu/
1 cup baby spinach
1 cup chopped broccoli
1 carrot chopped
1/4 onion chopped
coconut oil
coconut milk
spice mix
 
Directions:
  1. Lightly fry the garlic, onion, carrot, and celery in the oil.
  2. Add in the chicken and cook for a few minutes.
  3. Add in the other ingredients and enough water to cover if needed.
  4. Simmer till chicken and veggies are cooked.
  5. Serve over rice or with caulirice for a gluten free alternative.
